Shesh ... last night was weird, dream-wise. I woke up to the sound of myself punching the alarm clock around 4.30am. The alarm rang at 6am and I got up shortly afterwards. The weather is horrible - I've had the window wide open all night, but it didn't do any good. Very warm and humid, both outside and in my room.
Oh well, so I got up, washed, dressed, etc and left for the airport shortly afterwards.
And for lack of anything better to do, I'm writing LJ entries now. I got here around 7.35am, looked around for a bit, then sat down at the counter. First thing I noticed was that I got the wrong keys for the board with the contracts, car keys, etc. So I called the other Europcar place to ask about this. While waiting for someone to come over and help me, I had a bite of my breakfast that I'd bought on my way here. A Friendly Guy from the other branch turned up a while later to help me. As it turns out, I do have the right keys, they're just really crap ones. So it takes a few tries to actually unlock this thing o: ...
Anyway, Friendly Guy left a while later, and the first customer turned up. I'm using using a broad definition of the word "customer" here, basically anyone who approaches me is one ... d;
So, the first thing I was asked was whether there's any advantage in getting a car from the branch in the city instead of this one at the airport. Easy enough, since there's a service fee of 17% here, because of the airport. I couldn't tell him whether they take cash over there though ...
The second customer asked in english, where to find Ryanair's ticket counter. I couldn't tell him ): but at least I could show him the way to the information center.
8.30am now, and already "What a Day" ... But I hope I'll get used to it ... It doesn't look like I'll have a stressful job here most of the time.
Shift ist over at 10am, so I'll lock the board then, sit down somewhere and eat my breakfast. Then I'll probably take a look around the airport so that in future I can tell people where stuff is ...
Next customer asked when the Last Minute counter next to mine opens. Shesh. It's my first day ... o: ... (mmm, Simpsons)
I'd thought that this place, where the Europcar counter is located in the airport, is better than the Hertz place because it's in the big'ish hall, with lots of people in ... but it just occured to me that Hertz is closer to the arrivals, while this is the departure hall ... o: ... Oh well ...
I should bring more drinks in future. Most of my water is already gone (8.45am)
Oh well. At least I'm not tired ... d:
Oh, btw, there's
*no one* here helping me getting started ... o:
Cars ... 9 car keys here, quite a few nice ones it seems. 3 Mercedes, an Opel Cabrio, 1 or 2 Audis ...
An airport employee just started a little chat, saying that this location is quite bad, compared to Hertz. Well, Hertz were here first - it's Europcar's own fault. She added that sometimes people explicitly ask for Europcar, but it doesn't happen too often ...
Shesh ... the plane is gone. The hall is completely empty, except for myself and two people at the Ryanair desks ... Actually that might be the place that miht be the place the english guy asked about ... Oops.
I should bring a book in future, or else I'll fill my notebook with inane LJ stuff out of boredom. I really wonder whether I should bother with The Hobbit. ...
Ooooh, magazines ...
*goes to check* Stern, only about a month old ... d;
9.00am, just got a customer returning a car. What was I supposed to do with returns again? There's not an awful lot I
can do here. Maybe I'll call the other Europcar place about it ... d:
9.20am ... Wheee, called and got a new guy answering the phone, so he couldn't really tell me d; ... Anyway, he'll get someone to call me back, that should do ...
doo de doo
*bored*Shesh. Now *everyone* is gone.
Rundflüge?! Sorry, I don't know where you should go for those ...
*shurgs*Flies are annoying.
9.50am Uhm ... I'm new here. I have no idea where to get some money changed. Sorry. The information place is over there though, maybe they know d;
Booking Ryanair? I guess the ticketdesk is the place to go. Well I think she doesn't speak english, so "ticketdesk" might not ring a bell for her ...
9.55am Looks like I don't have to rent out any cars on my first shift. Also looks like I'm not getting called back ...
*shurgs*That's what I wrote during the shift. I closed down the counter a while later, went out, looked around for a bit, and biked home. Did a short stop at the supermarket to buy Yummy Food.
Actually, I should eat O:
